Farm Fresh – Providence, RI
EDS provided engineering design services for this new 60,000sf facility at 400 Kinsley Ave, a 3.3 acre site in Providence. Called the Rhode Island Food Hub, the project incorporated multiple uses as well as including aggregation and distribution of locally grown food and produce, production kitchen facilities, opportunities for nutrition education and job training, and retail markets for both the individual consumer and wholesaler. Some of the design challenges included a water source heat pump system allowing the heat of refrigeration equipment to be used to heat the building, 250kw photovoltaic array, and both landlord and tenant MEP/FP design for multiple tenant usages. EDS worked closely with the owner team and OPM to make sure all performance and energy goals were met.
